Stand-Up Comedy 101

Looking for a comedy class in Seattle? Our Stand-Up Comedy class is a great place to start. NOTE: This class meets in a venue where alcohol is sold, so enrollment is limited to students 21 and older.

This fun intensive standup comedy workshop is designed for anyone who has ever wanted to try, or learn about stand up comedy.

Over the course of four weeks you will learn about the craft of standup comedy through practice and experimentation. Each student works towards the goals they set for class and are coached toward them individually.

In less than a month everyone will build a 3-5 minute set and at the end of the course you will have the opportunity to perform that set in front of a live audience, at a real comedy club.

Each class involves exercises and workshops designed to give students a crash course in performing so you can walk away from graduation with more tools and know-how than your average three year comic.

Throughout the course there will also be culturally and comedically diverse guest comics in order to have expert voices outside of Taylor’s available for questions and feedback.

Students will also receive free tickets to multiple shows during the month of class, and are encouraged to participate in as many open mics as possible, as well as attend as many live shows as they can.

A week after your class (I) went to my very first audition!   Talk about absolute terror.   I did the same monologue I did in class, and guess what?   I got offered not only one role, but two roles from two different directors,  from that one petrified, shaking monologue, on my very first audition!  I was shocked…I couldn’t have done it without your great class.  Thanks!

Good instruction and feedback

Rated 5 out of 5

It is quite a process to go from having a funny thought or idea and transforming it into comedy that can be done as standup. Through instruction and direct feedback, I was able to figure out how to get laughs from my funny thoughts or ideas.  I am not a professional comedian, but now at least I feel like one!

“The instructor worked hard to make sure that every student had confidence and successful material to approach graduation show. He taught us how to perform jokes, addressed our anxiety, and asked us to trust the process. Everyone did terrific on stage and it was lots of fun doing the show with my fellow classmates.”
