At the start of this class I could not have imagined just how much I would improve in only one month. I have always wanted to try standup but was too scared to ever get up on my own. In the first class, I was so nervous on stage that I just mumbled out a couple lines of a half-baked thought I had at 2AM the night before. Just four short weeks later at the graduation show, I had 5 minutes of refined and hilarious material that I was able to confidently deliver, and it killed! There’s no better feeling than getting tons of laughs on stage at a real comedy club.

Taylor is not only an incredibly funny comedian, he is also a kind, passionate and highly skilled instructor. He has such a wealth of knowledge about all things comedy, and is great at building your confidence and working with you to find your own unique comedic voice. He is also just such a fun guy to be around. I genuinely couldn’t envision a better teacher of comedy.

In addition to being incredibly instructive, the classes and final show are so much fun! I would highly recommend exchanging information with your classmates and doing as many open mics as you can throughout the four weeks for maximum enjoyment. If you have ever wanted to try standup, or even just improve at public speaking, it does not get better than this class. Do it!

Nils guided me back into the proper headspace necessary as an actor. I discovered his Seattle-based courses after a decade long hiatus. I knew it was time to come back to the acting world. I went through his entire Acting 100 series, enjoyed his Screenwriting course, and even grew from Voice Acting 101 and 102. I’m grateful for Nil’s gracious approach to teaching the art form. Sean is such a wonderful instructor. I did the one day 101 workshop and I had so much fun! I took this class to get a better sense of what VO work entails and to get over my own anxiety of speaking in front of people.

We each had our chance to perform and get 1-on-1 coaching from Sean which was amazing. I felt super supported and safe exploring a new skill. Sean not only gave insightful feedback, but also gave us examples on how to think about lines and how to approach the work. He really cared about all of us and celebrated with us whenever we did a good take.

We also covered a lot about equipment, how to get started, and provided resources to look into if we wanted to continue learning.

Stand up 101 is a great class for anyone who wants to learn comedy in a safe space and experience a community like no other. Together with your classmates (who quickly become your friends and comedysupport system), you get to experience the absolute thrill of growing from nothing into a an act worthy of stage time at real comedy club in just a month. Taylor does a great job of making everyone feel at home, he helps you find your own brand of comedy, he is absolutely your #1 supporter, and his kindness and vulnerability sets the tone for the entire class to feel comfortable. 10/10 would recommend to anyone!

I really enjoyed this class, and I have to thank Taylor for being my very first comedy mentor. This class really meant a lot to me! I wanted to be on the standup comedy stage for a while, just never had the guts to do it, but with this class, and way too much laughter every Tuesday, I got the confidence to keep going and am already starting to get booked on shows. I had a wonderful experience with Taylor Clark and Comedy 101! It was a great intro into the world of joke-writing and delivery, open mics, industry norms, and other valuable wisdom. Taylor was warm, welcoming and informative, and helped all the students sharpen our material for the graduation show. Get ready for a good time taking Comedy 101 with Taylor. His class was incredibly fun and interactive. Taylor is also hilarious, and your classmates will be, too. So get ready to laugh! As a bonus, I made friends with classmates and can’t wait to keep writing comedy and going to open mics.

In each of the first three classes you are writing, workshopping jokes with classmates, learning from Taylor, and getting stage time to practice your sets. You also get feedback from Taylor and your classmates to help improve your set. Then the final class is your graduation show. It was such a neat experience seeing how everyone’s final set came together!

For anyone taking this class, you should really commit to it. Consume as much comedy as you can throughout the month, exchange contact information with your classmates to stay in touch, take time every day to write, and most importantly – go to open mics!

I absolutely recommend taking the standup comedy class with Taylor!! Whether you want to take up comedy or practice public speaking, Taylor makes this class very fun and comfortable. Taylor has been doing standup comedy for a long time and it shows! The guy is hilarious! We bonded as a class and it really helped lift us up individually as beginner comics. The whole class was an amazing experience and I can’t wait till the next class.

Hi Nils, your screenplay writing class is great, I would recommend it to everyone. You explain things in a way that is simple but extremely helpful. I loved the writing exercises and lectures.

I took the acting class, let’s make a movie, and the screenwriting class from Nils Osmar. They were all excellent in a life changing way.

It was a great (class) for me and I’m totally happy with it.

I took a class from (another instructor/school) last year and felt kind of discouraged afterwards; I think he was a discouraged screenwriter and passed that along! I feel encouraged since your class, and am excited to get back to my screenplay.

I’m happy with the result of class… I feel liberated instead of stuck. I’ve been writing again and am very pleased.
