Acting 101 Assignment 2

A few quick notes:

  • Certificate program: If you take Acting 101, 102, 103 and 104, you will earn a certificate in acting fundamentals from Rekindle School. For upcoming class dates, see this page.
  • Audition class: 1-day workshop this coming Sunday. More info.
  • Some students were asking after class about my background. I’ve worked as a writer, actor, filmmaker, stage and film director and teacher — and as a comic book artist. For those who are curious about my art, the carousel below has some of my drawings. Click to view larger.

This Week’s Assignment:

  • This week’s assignment is to memorize the very short scene below. As always,I’d recommend breaking it into small sections, then using the “one letter/one word” method we talked about in class.
  • You may also want to try singing it or saying the lines in ridiculous voices.
  • Whatever method you use, drilling, i.e., saying the lines repeatedly, is essential.
  • This script is written so as to be open to many different interpretations. The characters could be almost anyone (husband and wife; parent and child; roommates or housemates; lovers).
  • So don’t worry too much about the relationships in this one, as they could change in different scenarios. Just focus on learning the lines.
